Has anyone modded their xbox? (not firmware, only case mods)
Hey everyone! I'm in the middle of modding my xbox and wanted to see if anyone is doing/has done theirs. feel free to share!
of course, i only refer to case or cosmetic modifications. all that drive flashing, playing backup games, etc, is NOT what i am referring to.
i have a blog for mine with updates here
enjoy!

I've modded a controller before. The clickiness on the thumbsticks didn't work so I rewired it to two buttons I put on the back on the controller.
Re: Has anyone modded their xbox? (not firmware, only case mods)
No, although I did want to do it, but I didn't want to screw my xbox up.
I'm also worried about the RRoD, because if that happens, I can't get it fixed.
Although I do want to get a modded controller sometime. Any good sites that have some? (No cheat buttons, although remapped or customizable buttons would be nice)

yeah, i think about that every time i do something to it. luckily, most modifications are pretty simple, and its pretty tough to screw up your entire system...
and if i do get the rrod, there's a few other things i can do before you send it back to MS. (of course, that all voids your warranty, which i did a long time ago...so if it doesn't work after you try to fix it, they wont fix it either.)
yeah, llama.com and this section of xbox-mods has some stuff. most of those are custom controller cases and led-lit controlelrs. unfortunately, most remapping and custom buttons need to be done by hand. you can check craigslist for people in your area that do xbox mods (just search "xbox mods" at craigslist, obviously) or maybe even on ebay, if you're dying to get it done.Dante wrote:Although I do want to get a modded controller sometime. ps. since these forums are so new i'm trying to tread lightly on the whole modding topic, because i know cosmetic modding is usually accepted on forums, but flashing firmware, etc, is not, and is frowned upon. so forgive me if i say something i shouldn't.
Re: Has anyone modded their xbox? (not firmware, only case mods)
Does that site allow you to purchase already modded controllers?
I'm not really looking for mor buttons or anything, but a different case or LEDs under the buttons would be pretty cool. Anything like that I can buy, already assembled?

Modding is fine to talk about, as long as it is not used to cheat/gain an unfair advantage.

Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't want to upset anyone my first day here

i believe so. it's been a while since i went though their online catalog, but last time i checked they did. there's also plenty of stuff like that on ebay. unfortunately, there's also controllers on ebay that are modded for rapid-fire and stuff like that, so stay away from those.

haha. yes, i would be. i wouldn't dream of sending it back to them. i don't even know what they would do with it; would they send it back? keep it? kinda makes me want to try it as a joke....if i had that kind of money to burn....
i think this post is long enough. time to pop open a cold one...

I found a controller with a modded case and LEDs for $45 + 8.50 for shipping.
Originally, I was just gonna buy the parts and do it myself, but this is a really good deal, so perhaps later I'll experiemt with my own creations.

that sounds like a pretty good deal. what do controllers run now? $40-$50ish? if you have a few controllers of your own, i'd do some experimenting!
Re: Has anyone modded their xbox? (not firmware, only case mods)
Yeah, the only problem is that I don't have some of the specific requirements sites have listed.
For example, a specific sized soldering tool.
If anybody here on X360 has done these before, please reply back, I could use a little help with this =)

i kinda want to paint mine with those green circles from the original marketing campaign.
Re: Has anyone modded their xbox? (not firmware, only case mods)
I've got a skin on mine, I'd never mod the case. I know my console will get the RRoD sometime, I don't want to void my warrenty.

I'm interested in modding my controller. Is this anything I could do on my own or would I need to buy equipment/parts?
